A bit about me

German born I was raised in the UK where I lived until 2018 when I returned to Germany. I started out my career in Health and Social-Care as a Carer helping the elderly in the community live as independently as possible. Later I studies BA Social Work and worked as a social worker for 10 years, initially as with the elderly, then specialise in older-adult mental health and then mental health generally after working in community mental health teams. I retrained as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist as part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) initiative in the UK designed to increase access to evidence-based therapies for common mental health problems by creating a stepped-care approach to mental health treatment. Training in this context taught me to work closely with evidence-based protocols for common mental health problems to achieve the best possible outcomes. I since trained as a Clinical Supervisor and have enjoyed roles as a Supervisor, Clinical Lead and other Leadership roles as well as working in the Digital Health sector where I developed a passion for technologies which can help improve the accessibility and effectiveness of evidence-based mental health care.

I am an approachable, friendly, collaborative and more relaxed/informal therapist who invests in getting to know his clients and adapting therapy to their needs, whilst trying to maintain the elements of the therapy which make it effective and help clients achieve their goals. I enjoy using humour and helping my clients feel relaxed and comfortable to open up. If you prefer a very formal and serious therapist, I am probably not for you!

About TfD Therapy

TfD Therapy is the name under which I registered my private practice in 2016 in the UK.

It reflects the close connection to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in that the

TfD stands for:

T = Think

reflecting the C in CBT, Cognitions.

feel

D = Do

reflecting the B in CBT, Behaviours.

In 2017 TfD Therapy rebranded to TfD online to reflect a general shift towards remote therapy following growing evidence of its equal effectiveness to face-to-face CBT.
